Warum auch immer. Ein Laden w\u00e4re viel sinniger. F\u00fcr einen Einkauf muss man alle L\u00e4den abklappern. Der eine hat nur gammelige Zwiebeln, der n\u00e4chste keine Kartoffeln. Aber man bekommt alles, was man zum Leben braucht. Eng d\u00fcrfte es in der kleinen Bucht mit den ganzen Piraten-Schiffen gewesen sein.<\/p>\n<p>Henry Morgan gilt als Erfinder des &#8222;Piraten-Ehren-Kodex&#8220;, eine Art Sozialversicherung f\u00fcr Freibeuter: \u201e<em>Sie erhalten f\u00fcr den Verlust eines rechten Arms 600 Piaster oder sechs Sklaven, f\u00fcr den Verlust eines linken Arms 500 Piaster oder f\u00fcnf Sklaven\u2026<\/em>\u201c<br \/>\nEine Menge Holz bedenkt man, dass eine Kuh nur zwei Piaster kostete.<\/p>\n<p>Nicht zu Unrecht wurde der ber\u00fchmte Rum &#8218;Captain Morgan&#8216; nach Henry benannt. Der Freibeuter galt sein Leben lang als starker Trinker und ist wahrscheinlich an einem Leber-Leiden gestorben.<\/p>\n<p>Den Einwohnern von Providencia hat der lange Aufenthalt der Engl\u00e4nder die Sprache hinterlassen. Mit dem Spanisch vom Festland Kolumbiens hat Providencia nicht viel am Hut.
