Wenn man von der gewaltigen Stadtmauer und Festung liest, ist die Erwartung, sie muss riesig sein. Aber zwei Kilometer Durchmesser, mehr mag es gar nicht sein.<\/p>\n<p>Es gibt einen perfekt restaurierten Teil. El Centro und San Diego.<br \/>\nHier ist schon fast steril. Alles ist f\u00fcr die Touristen hergerichtet. Teure Boutiquen und edle Souvenir-Shops. Dazwischen eine Armee an Hutverk\u00e4ufern, Touren-Anbietern und Schmuck-H\u00e4ndlern.<br \/>\nMan w\u00fcnscht sich ein T-Shirt mit der Aufschrift. &#8217;no quiero nada&#8216;. Man wird sie nicht wieder los.<\/p>\n<p>Im Hinterland von Cartagena gibt es einen Ort, San Basilio de Palenque.<br \/>\nHier wohnen die Nachfahren entflohener Sklaven, die <em>cimarr\u00f3nes, <\/em>wie die Spanier sie nannten.<em><br \/>\nDie<\/em> schwarzen Frauen kommen in die Stadt, um auch eine Scheibe vom Touristen-Kuchen zu ernten.<br \/>\nVerkleidet in &#8222;Sklaventracht&#8220;, wie ein Tourist sich eine Sklaventracht so vorstellt, geben sie vor, Obst zu verkaufen. Anmutig tragen sie Schalen auf dem Kopf. H\u00fcbsch dekorierte Obst Stillleben. Aber es geht nicht um Obstverkauf. Ein Schmuckverk\u00e4ufer erz\u00e4hlt uns, dass er 25 Stunden mit dem Bus nach Hause fahren muss.<br \/>\nEr hat eine Handvoll Ketten \u00fcber dem Arm. Billigst-Ware &#8218;made in einem Land&#8216;, in dem das Lohn-Niveau noch niedriger ist als in Kolumbien.<br \/>\nEr findet Deutschland gut. Vor allem wegen der Bundesliga. Er kennt alle Vereine, erz\u00e4hlt uns die Tabellenst\u00e4nde und grinst \u00fcber den HSV. <img src=\"https:\/\/atanga.de\/wp-content\/plugins\/classic-smilies\/img\/icon_eek.gif\" alt=\":shock:\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sch\u00f6n ist es in El Centro und San Diego. Er ist nicht so perfekt renoviert, die Touristen-Dichte nimmt ab. Die Plaza Trinidad ist der Treffpunkt f\u00fcr K\u00fcnstler und solche, die es werden wollen: Breakdancer Battle, Folkloregruppen, Beatboxer, schlechte Gitarrenspieler und gute S\u00e4nger. Bier bekommt man auf der Plaza nur im Plastikbecher, Glas ist verboten. Trotzdem, unter den Augen der Polizei werden uns &#8218;Happy Brownies&#8216; angeboten. Frech in der Tupperdose pr\u00e4sentiert.<\/p>\n<p>Au\u00dferhalb der Altstadt liegt das m\u00e4chtige &#8218;Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas&#8216;.<br \/>\nEs ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Festung, die Spanien in einer ihrer Kolonien errichtete. Uneinnehmbar, so lautete der Auftrag, sollte das Bollwerk sein. Und es hielt Stand.<\/p>\n<p>Sogar den st\u00e4rksten Angriff in der Geschichte der Stadt. Den \u00dcberfall durch Admiral Vernon 1740. Der englische Admiral war sich seines Sieges gewiss, lies er doch schon vor dem Angriff Gedenkm\u00fcnzen pr\u00e4gen: &#8222;Der Stolz Spaniens gedem\u00fctigt durch Vernon&#8220;.<br \/>\nSein Gegenspieler war ein alter Kriegsveteran, Don Blas de Lezo. Bereits einbeinig, einarmig und ein\u00e4ugig, verlor er in der Schlacht gegen Vernon noch sein zweites Bein, konnte aber den Sieg davon tragen. Vernon war nun der Gedem\u00fctigte.<\/p>\n<p>Heute kann man das Kastell besichtigen.<br \/>\nEin besonderes Vergn\u00fcgen ist das ausgekl\u00fcgelte Tunnel- und Wegesystem. Mehrere Hundert Meter G\u00e4nge mit Pulverkammern, Kasematten und Vorratslagern.
