In dieser Zeit wurde mehr als ein Viertel der Insel durch Vulkanausbr\u00fcche, Lavastr\u00f6me und Asche-Regen neu geformt. Am schlimmsten davon betroffen ist der S\u00fcd-Westen von Lanzarote. Hier kann man von oben prima die Lavawalzen erkennen, die sich Quadratkilometer gro\u00df ihren Weg bis ans Meer gebahnt haben. Dort sind sie meterhoch erstarrt und bilden eine bizarre, ja fast surreale K\u00fcstenlinie. Schwarz wie Kohle gl\u00e4nzt die, von der ungebremsten Atlantikd\u00fcnung umspielte, Lava. Schwarz sind auch die feinen Str\u00e4nde. Aber kein Leben ist dort zu sehen, kein Vogel \u00fcberfliegt diese Ein\u00f6de. Jeden Augenblick l\u00e4uft man Gefahr, einem Ork gegen\u00fcber zu stehen und man erwischt sich dabei, den Himmel nach Nazg\u00fbl abzusuchen. Lanzarotes Westen ist Mordor.<\/p>\n<p>Wir machen einen Stopp auf der meerzugewandten Seite des Nationalparks und finden einen Weg, der offensichtlich zu einer kleinen Farm hinter den Bergen f\u00fchrt. Ein rot schimmernder Berg mit Resten von schwarzen Windschutz-Mauern stellt sich uns in den Weg. Achim kommt auf die Idee, direkt diesen Hang empor zu klettern. Gar nicht einfach, denn der komplette Berg ist mit Rollsplitt abgestreut. Aber die M\u00fche lohnt sich, die \u00dcberraschung ist perfekt, denn auf dem Gipfel schauen wir in den Schlund des Vulkans. Damit hatten wir nicht gerechnet, war doch unsere Erwartung ein einfacher Bergr\u00fccken. Dazu bietet sich eine phantastische Aussicht.<\/p>\n<p>Der Vulkankrater ist fr\u00fcher mal landwirtschaftlich genutzt worden, wie alte Windschutzmauern im Inneren verraten. Trinkwasser, Grundwasser gibt es hier nicht (mehr), aber die feine Lapilli-Schicht, erbsengro\u00dfe Lava-Steinchen, ist in der Lage den n\u00e4chtlichen Tau so gut speichern, dass sehr erfolgreich Trockenfeldbau betrieben werden kann. Vor allem Wein wird im Zentrum von Lanzarote, bei La Geria, angebaut. Obwohl man es den k\u00fcmmerlichen Reben in ihren Laval\u00f6chern nicht ansieht, ist diese Anbauweise wohl sehr ertragreich. Um die Lapilli und Pflanzen vor dem allgegenw\u00e4rtigen Nord-Ost-Passat zu sch\u00fctzen, wird um jedes Lavaloch eine halbkreisf\u00f6rmige Mauer aus Lava-Brocken errichtet. Bei Tausenden von solchen Mulden mit den dazu geh\u00f6rigen M\u00e4uerchen f\u00fchrt das zu so einem ungew\u00f6hnlichen Bild, dass das Museum of Modern Art in NY dieses Weinanbaugebiet zum Gesamtkunstwerk erkl\u00e4rt hat. Aber bei den Spritpreisen hier, wie sie in Deutschland in etwa zur EURO-Einf\u00fchrung herrschten, macht Tanken fast Spa\u00df.
