Der gro\u00dfe Naturhafen von Mindelo hat bereits zur Zeit der Dampfschiffe dazu gef\u00fchrt, dass hier einer der bedeutendsten H\u00e4fen auf der Atlantischen Ostseite entstanden ist. Der Umschlagplatz f\u00fcr die Kohle der Dampfschiffe ist verschwunden, die Menschen sind geblieben.<br \/>\n98% aller Einwohner von S\u00e3o Vicente wohnen in Mindelo. Unm\u00f6glich k\u00f6nnen die Menschen von dem, was der Boden hergibt, ern\u00e4hrt werden. F\u00e4llt dann noch der Regen aus, so wie in diesem Jahr, verdorrt der Mais, der in den Bergen angebaut wird.<br \/>\nAndere Inseln wurden in diesem Jahr mit viel Regen beschenkt. Die meisten Stra\u00dfen bestehen aus Basalt-artigen, kleinen Pflastersteinen. Die arbeitsintensiven Stra\u00dfen wurden vor gut 40 Jahren auf fast allen Inseln erbaut.<br \/>\nViel zu sehen, gibt es unterwegs wahrlich nicht. Hin- und wieder kleine Ziegenherden, vertrockneten Mais und ein paar Agaven.<\/p>\n<p>In Baia das Gatas machen wir am Strand einen Stop. Hier haben die im Ausland lebenden (reichen) Kap Verdier ihr Wochenendhaus.<br \/>\nZweidrittel der Kap Verdier leben nicht auf den Inseln, sondern in Brasilien oder Portugal. Die meisten in der Gruppe entscheidet sich f\u00fcr das Schwein.<br \/>\nVor meinem geistigen Auge erscheint wabbelige Ferkelhaut statt knackiger Kruste.<br \/>\nIch w\u00e4hle Fisch.<br \/>\nUnd mit dieser Entscheidung hab ich richtig Schwein: Das kleine Ferkel h\u00e4tte nicht sterben d\u00fcrfen. Die Haut hat nie einen Grill gesehen und das Fleisch ist fade und neben Fett kaum auszumachen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Beilagen, scharfe, kross gebratene Blutwurst, Blattkohl (eine Unterart unseres Gr\u00fcnkohls und ihm im Geschmack sehr \u00e4hnlich), rote Bete und Petersilienkartoffeln mit Schale sind hingegen sehr gut.<\/p>\n<p>Die Umst\u00e4ndlichkeit der Kellnerinnen ist f\u00fcr uns gew\u00f6hnungsbed\u00fcrftig.<br \/>\nZuerst werden die Getr\u00e4nkew\u00fcnsche aufgenommen (noch normal), dann werden die Getr\u00e4nke gebracht (gut), dann wird verschwunden (schade).<br \/>\nErst &#8222;Stunden sp\u00e4ter&#8220; werden die Essen-W\u00fcnsche notiert. Ein weiteres Getr\u00e4nk zu bestellen, traut sich da keiner mehr.
