Der Strand wird bis in die letzte Bucht zweimal t\u00e4glich ges\u00e4ubert.<br \/>\nDer kleine Ort an der Bucht mutet wie Disney-Land an. Quitsch-bunte Boutiquen, klimatisiert bis zur Schmerzgrenze. Es gibt lapprige Pumphosen f\u00fcr USD 100,00.<br \/>\nUnd einer originellen Sand-Vermeidungs-Taktik. Hier wohnen die Angestellten der Luxus-Villen. Ganz nett und sicherlich besser als so manche Unterk\u00fcnfte auf anderen Inseln. Allerding, der Inselgenerator \u00fcberschallt den gesamten Ort. Elektrosmog inklusive.<br \/>\nHier d\u00fcrfen wir noch hin. Sie geh\u00f6ren alle zu den besser Verdienenden der Region. Die Arbeitslosenquote auf den Inseln rings herum betr\u00e4gt bis zu 30%. Wer hier einmal Arbeit hat, m\u00f6chte sie behalten.<br \/>\nDie Insel-Company sorgt f\u00fcr eine Schule und unterh\u00e4lt eine F\u00e4hre nach St. Vincent. Zur Versorgung und f\u00fcr Heimfahrten der Arbeiter. Vertr\u00e4ge mit 7-Tage-Woche sind eher die Regel.<\/p>\n<p>Die Hauptstra\u00dfe ist bereits nach 300 Metern nur autorisierten Menschen erlaubt.<br \/>\nEs ist ja nicht so, dass wir auf Privatgrundst\u00fccken und unsere Nase am K\u00fcchenfenster von Mick Jagger platt dr\u00fccken wollten, aber wenigstens die Hauptstra\u00dfe sollte f\u00fcr einen kleinen Spaziergang frei sein.<br \/>\nDer Eindruck liegt nahe, dass man als Yachtie nicht sehr erw\u00fcnscht ist. Maximal als\u00a0Dekoration f\u00fcr die, sonst leere, Bucht d\u00fcrfen wir dienen.<br \/>\nOkay, die Insel ist privat. Hausrecht f\u00fcr den Besitzer. Conch-Muscheln. Tausende und Abertausende von Conch-Muscheln. Die Schalen weg geworfen, nachdem sie leer gegessen wurden.<br \/>\nDiese gigantische Fechter-Schnecke kommt von Florida bis Brasilien und in der gesamten Karibik vor. Sie ist als Nahrungsmittel derart beliebt, dass ihre Best\u00e4nde gef\u00e4hrdet sind.<br \/>\nZu lange wurden ohne R\u00fccksicht die Seegras-Wiesen abgesucht. Sogar die noch nicht geschlechtsreifen Jungtiere werden gesammelt.<br \/>\nDer WWF informiert die lokale Bev\u00f6lkerung \u00fcber den komplizierten, langj\u00e4hren Entwicklungsprozess der Schnecken. Glauben doch noch viele, die Schnecken w\u00fcrden aus Gruben aus dem Meeresboden springen.<\/p>\n<p>Die bis zu 30 cm gro\u00dfen Geh\u00e4use werden wie Feldsteine verwendet. Aus ihnen werden D\u00e4mme gegen Wellenschlag gebaut oder als Beet-Einfassung genutzt. Das Aufsch\u00fctten der Schneckenh\u00e4user hat lange Tradition in der Karibik und ist auf den meisten Inseln anzutreffen. Einige Schilder geben Erkl\u00e4rungen und machen auf Besonderheiten aufmerksam. Ein netter Spaziergang mit Stolperfallen durch &#8222;Fuchsbau-gro\u00dfe&#8220; L\u00f6cher von Krebsen.
