Soweit das Auge reicht, sieht man endlosen Dschungel. Von oben betrachtet, sieht der Wald aus wie ein uebergrosser Brokkoli.<\/p>\n<p>Eine knappe Stunde dauert der Flug zu den Kaieteur Wasserfaellen. Unbefleckte Natur. Die Holzwirtschaft spielt in Guyana keine Rolle mehr. Aus Umweltschutzgruenden hat man sich aus diesem Business zurueck gezogen.<br \/>\nAber der Brokkoli hat faule Stellen.<br \/>\nZwar nur kleine Flecken im endlosen Teppich. Der Einsatz von Quecksilber ist eine echte Umwelt-Sauerei und schaedigt nachhaltig Natur, Tier und Mensch.<\/p>\n<p>Der Kaieteur-Wasserfall gilt als der hoechste einstufige Wasserfall der Welt. Mit viel Getoese schiessen ueber 100.000 Liter Wasser in der Sekunde die 250 Meter hohen Klippen runter. Ruhig und unaufgeregt kommt der Potaro River aus dem Urwald geschlaengelt, um hier ein abruptes Ende zu finden. Diese Bromelien, die nicht an Baeumen kleben, sondern fuer sich alleine am Boden wachsen, sind Wohnung fuer die Fingernagel-grossen Gold-Froesche. Waehrend des Fluges geht der Urwald in goldgelbe Savanne ueber.<br \/>\nDiese aehnelt den Savannen in Afrika und ist die Heimat fuer vereinzelte Doerfer der Ureinwohner.<br \/>\nWie der Dschungel, so ist auch die Savanne mit unendlichen Fluessen und Wasserlaeufen durchzogen.
